Lord, help me not to waste this year!

Saturday, July 01, 2006

Well today I write in quite a different setting. As I am sitting here, I hear the sound of moto''s beeping as they pass by in the insane traffic. I smell foods that I do not even know the name of. I hear words I do not understand. And I sit amazed at the culture, but more importantly the people of this wonderful country. Yes, I am in Cambodia. Travels went extremely well and I was able to sleep most of the way over here. I have had several oppurtunites to share the gospel with people I have encountered. I have taught English to several classes who are so eager to learn. I have loved on orphans who can not get enough love. I have tasted food I don't know the name of. I have spent much time with college students who act like (excuse this phrase) non-hormonal junior highers, so excited to be with us. I have experienced a "medical clinic" that would be shut down instantly in the US. I have prayed with and encouraged many Cambodians. What more could I ask for. I can not even begin to write about the experiences I have without showing you the pictures, because it is indescribable. I am eager to see what God will do in the remaining time I have here in Phnom Penh but also in Thailand. Please continue to pray that God will use me in amazing ways! That I can simply serve Him wholeheartedly! I am excited to share with you all, when I get home, the pictures, stories, and blessings.

What a great week! On Saturday, we left for Branson, Missouri, after I finished taking the ACT. I think I should just stop all my plans and become a professional test taker b/c I am starting to enjoy it Anyways... 13 hours later we arrived at our destination! It was a great trip with a lot of family time. We spent the majority of the time on the lake, but did go to the Dixie Stampede and also to a three story go-cart track. Also, Meagan and I decided we are going to be the next professional tennis players with some coaching from Dad! It was a great time, with a lot of time to catch up with the family and also with my own thoughts. We got home Friday night late and my aunt and uncle are here from Oregon. Saturday I went to some graduation parties and got to see my long lost friends at the church! Anna came over for a little bit and we talked to the guys out in Montana... three way calling alright!!! And then we headed over to Lee's for some games! Wow, I forgot how cool my youth group is! This morning, we had D2S dedication in all three services, and some good fellowship time with youth group friends; I haven't seen them in forever it seems (2 weeks ). Anyways, I leave for Cambodia in one week! I am getting anxious and dreaming of items I forgot to pack But, hopefully everything will come together! Everyone, I will be able to check my email while I am over there (June 25-July 12) so please write! It will be encouraging to get emails from home, and maybe prevent some home sickness I also believe I will have a "blog" type site that you guys can see what I am doing...haha... so, maybe just check in with my mom or something. Please keep me in your prayers in the upcoming weeks, that I will be able to minister to many!

The first real day of summer!!! It was very productive! I finished book #1 for Cambodia, First they Killed My Father, and started the second one, The Killing Fields. I did a lot of girl work (cleaning, laundry, cooking...) and scrapbooked some recent events. Meagan was home this weekend so I spent Sunday and today with her. We walked to Blockbuster and there must have been a bunch of dead animals along Cook because it stunk! It was so hard Friday at the Senior Assembly to see all the seniors go. I am going to miss you guys! I think this is the first year I actually was friends with these people. It's going to be so different without them! This weekend was a lot of fun starting on Thursday with an exhilerating movie , graduation parties, Disco Bowling, graduation parties, church, and hanging around with different people. I have two things to brag about: #1-I got a 110 bowling (ok that's the best I have ever done) and this guy  only got a 104....haha. He lost at something! #2- When Nay and I played scrabble, I got a 30 point word! (that is quite an improvement from the last time ) Anyways, it's crazy how memories from only a couple weeks can consume all of your thoughts!

So, today was my last real day of school. I have finished all of my tests! I must say that it felt wonderful to turn in my physics book! WE ARE DONE! Anyways.... it has been so hot in the school, it's kinda like going swimming I need to get used to the humidity because I guess when I go to Cambodia it is going to be 87% humidity... nice and wet Good thing I sweat even when it is freezing outside... o well! We went to Burton Park for lunch today, ate lunch that the Tsavaris's cooked us and played basketball.... ya, there were really courts there! Last night at church I finally understood my worthlessness, what I have been struggling with recently. I realized that I need to stop comparing myself to people around me because I have a higher standard... perfection,  that is what Christ requires. I am so excited to go on my trip to Cambodia/Thailand.... ahhhh, less than a month! I am ready for that life changing experience! We have a choir concert tonight (hopefully noone passes out) and then I hope I get to go out afterwards since I don't have school tomorrow!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RYAN
